Beginning of August 2026
Hi all ![]()
First of all, @tschumilas @nicotentin thank you both for your feedback. I don’t personally have an answer for the UX order cycle development, but we are starting to assess how we want to approach the next phase of the roadmap, and this piece of work is definitely part of the conversation. I would also love to work on a maybe lighter version of what has been estimated so that we can meet folks’ expectations and improve users’ workflows. Hopefully we can find a way to unlock this.
Following, an update on what’s been worked on and some considerations of the future of the roadmap.
The snapshot
Note: labels for funded and core have been removed. Ultimately this is a bit misleading at the moment, since it might imply that there is some kind of “core budget” or “core features” being chosen. In reality at this point everything is pretty much a funded feature.
Feature by feature
Tech modernisation
A vulnerability raised from the community has been actioned and published as a GitHub advisory
Linked variants - Funded feature (FR)
Github Milestone | Discourse Thread | Slack channel
Rachel: Linked variants are available in beta, for now only to enterprises which are producers, which is the last issue remaining. If you use it, don’t hesitate to share feedback in #instance-managers channel
DFC 2.0 Upgrade - Funded as part of Connecting Farms to Markets (CA)
Github Issue | Upgrade Guide
Maikel: OFN is now able to import basic certification labels (organic etc) from Litefarm. Litefarm production deploy is coming in the next weeks. There’s only one task left to complete the DFCv2 API coverage.
Products grid view - Frontshop uplift (AU)
Github Milestone | Discourse Thread | Slack channel
Gaetan is continuing development, now focusing on displaying a list of variants, while Mario is tidying up the few remaining issues that need to be fleshed out. It is a big piece of work but it is steadily progressing. Eventually we will need to decide how to release this, and if and how to retire the list view.
Multiple product images - Frontshop uplift (AU)
Github Milestone | Discourse Thread | Slack channel
Thanks to Ahmed, carousel is now in the production codebase, and old image data has been removed. He’s now close to releasing the ability for admins to actually upload and display variant images. Happening soon! You can read more about the full release plan here.
Product pages - Frontshop uplift (AU)
Github Milestone | Slack channel
Maikel has started to look into it, it’s now moved to delivery.
Product categories navigation - Frontshop uplift (AU)
Discourse Thread | Slack channel
Slow inception progress for this piece. We’ll likely need to address how to regain some momentum for it soon.
What’s next?
Rachel and Mario have started to discuss how we can decide what to make the focus of the roadmap post frontshop uplift. Feedback is being gathered to understand how folks would like to participate here - feel free to share your thoughts if you would like to do so. We are starting to review that feedback and incorporating it into the conversation on next steps. You can read more about our thought process (in progress) in #product-circle notes. Some more structured summary will be shared once the thinking has converged a bit.
Thank you!
