Review of product circle
We started the meeting with a quick tour of the strength and weaknesses of this circle so far.
Strengths:
- It’s a good place to understand what is working / not working for instances and how instances are evolving their strategy / business model (more than instance manager circle or global hangout)
- Link / bridge between strategy and finances
- It’s a safe space to vent
- This meeting reveals what’s happening behind the scene, before developers take on the stage. It shows all the complexity of running the global OFN project. This aspect is not shared enough with the rest of the community
Weaknesses:
- Local support and product team are disconnected currently
- Finding a time across timezone is painful, but also difficult because most members of the product circle were volunteers
Improvements will be worked on when Genevieve has a clearer overview and we are ready for a new process.
Vine demo
Rachel did a quick tour of Vine from an OFN point of view. This did not include the demo of the redemption part which can be seen here: Dashboard - Open Food Network Vine Platform - 12 November 2024 | Loom
We’ve discussed next steps on VINE for the global. Kirsten and Rachel will update the global community on discourse, Rachel started a doc with info here: VINE & OFN global next step - Google Docs
Product tag & budget
Product tags are the next steps toward Network 2.0.
As Network 2.0 will help solve procurements, we could dedicate a chunk of UK procurement money towards it.
However it will be best to track this work under Network 2.0. Rachel will sync. with Aaron on how to set up the global spreadsheet for this + share the product tag issue for review before dev starts.
Kirsten will organize a walk-through the budget spreadsheet next Tuesday eve / Wednesday morning
