Hi everyone!
My name is Cristóbal Jaraba Nilo, and I’m writing from southern Chile, near Villarrica Volcano—currently based in Coñaripe but always moving around the surrounding areas. I’m a Natural Resources Engineer with experience in agroecology and collective purchasing organizations.
We are officially starting the journey to bring Open Food Network to Chile. Currently, we’re working through Fundación El Colihue (a legally constituted non-profit) to apply for a government grant (FFOIP 2026) that will finance the initial implementation, server setup, and platform localization.
Our goal is to professionalize and scale the work of local producers, food hubs, and consumer cooperatives in our territory (Pucón, Villarrica, Lican Ray, and Coñaripe) and eventually expand nationwide to support food sovereignty in Chile.
I’ve already been in touch with Nick Weir, who has been incredibly supportive, but I wanted to introduce myself to the global community. We’re excited to learn from your experiences and contribute to this amazing open-source project.
Looking forward to connecting with you all!
Best,
Cristóbal
