NGI Sargasso

Funding to continue on from Discover Regenerative & Waterloo Regen projects to create a directory of products and enterprises.
These websites use web components built by Startin’ Blox which use Semantic Web (an official web standard) to consume the DFC API from existing OFN instances. The web components are reusable modules.

Next project is for a co-operative group CQCM in Quebec, Canada. We are still interviewing stakeholders to design it.
But we can already start on the the permission module. We need a way for the user to grant permission to share their data with third parties.

Currently we have an interface for granting access called “Connected Apps”, but if each app has to build an interface it creates a barrier to entry. So we would like to build a general module for this that can be re-used by any opensource project.

This means the DFC API will need to support more nuanced permissions, differentiating between “read” and “write” permission for example.
They will be implementing Django LDP.

Each platform sharing data will maintain a record of what permissions have been granted to the resources on that platform.

The project also have funding for other platforms to implement DFC, although this is yet to be decided.

This will all come together to allow the portal to aggregate data from other platforms in the directory.

Note that there is a similar English project coming up too.

Estimates are required and we want to predict all potential costs to the organisation. (So don’t try to push the cost down!). Same for NGI Taler estimates.

S1

An issue occurred (most likely) due to the new release. It was identified during Euro daytime, and there was no system admins available to assist.

  1. Immediate action: @gaetan to deploy previous release on all instances
  2. Is there a way to know how many/which orders were impacted by the issue?
  3. Investigate issue and most likely revert the offending PR
  4. Aim to get Ahmed trained up to have system admin access to help with this in the future.

Flower Farms stock reservation

Theresa has put together n8n workflow to help join multiple orders per customer.
So the important issue now is that people need to order/reserve/wish for flowers a long
time in advance. This is not clear yet.

David: it sounds like we need to find the middle ground between two perspectives:

  • Farmer needs to say what flowers they can produce (for example they may need to plant more diversity for soil health).
  • Customer needs to say what they “wish” for.

Perhaps both sides need to have some kind of commitment from the other side so that they can plan ahead (eg customer commits to buy, and farmer commits to provide a certain minimum).

David to ask to see if he can share access to CERES Fair Food for Rachel.
