This is the behavior observed on v1.4:
- IF a client selects a quantity for a product which is higher than the product’s defined stock (“On Hand” value, defined either by the supplier or via an override)
- THEN this value will be automatically changed back by the shopfront to the maximum quantity available
And this change is done without telling anything to the end user.
A wish would be to display a small message saying that there is only X products available, otherwise it just looks like a bug from the end user point of view
