How to build a successful Food Hub

Thanks @Nick and @Janosch

Here’s a link to a recent report we completed on Food Hubs and in particular the supporting ‘infrastructure’ to provide the under-arching support for regional food systems, lots of cross over. I’ve also provided a focus on the ways the finance system can shift

FCF and its network of growers in our region, wish to acknowledge the traditional custodians, past and present, of the Aboriginal Nations of South East Queensland, namely the Turrbal (‘Turrubul’) and ‘Jagara’ (‘Yuggera’, ‘Yugurapul’), Quandamooka people, Ugandi people of the Bundgalung nation and the Jinibara (‘Jinibara’, ‘Dalla’ and ‘Dungidjau’). We respect their wisdom and farming methods which have provided shelter, food and a rich culture for thousands of generations.

Hi Robert

Thank you for your report. It took me a while to read through and it definitely got me thinking. To be honest, I underestimated how tough it would be to get a food hub running/trusted that people would just support it as it’s for a good cause. But yeah, I guess if we are not answering a real need, the project does not stand a chance. Time to sharpen the business plan now

I have a more operations-related question: what software do you use to sell the products? Say I am a wholesaler or a chef and want to buy at your food hub. How does that work?

Thank you and best wishes!

Janosch
