Agreed.

I actually think the lead time on subs would give ample time to try something else first and still prepare the beds for subs work… Just bringing people together for subs will take months and both rounds of fundraising will be long and not a process to be rushed.

I think this would make a good first project It is relatively small and easy.

Voluntary Donation at Checkout

I’m breathing life into this old thread to pitch a proposal… I would like us to explore an alternate funding model for this feature What if… We take a loan to fund this feature. We get buy in from our users in this. We agree collectively we’ll fund repayments by directing checkout donations toward the repayment of the loan until it is paid. Once it is paid users can use it to raise money for their own social impact work. Once a year we’ll take over the feature for an OFN fun…

The advantage of working on that as a first project is that it simultaneously unlocks another revenue stream - the annual takeover of the feature by OFN to fundraise globally (in the way wikipedia do an annual fundraising drive). I think this global fundraising purpose can justify the decision to work on this first while we clarify some other surrounding processes…

I’m really keen to continue driving the explorations… though not at all sure what it means to have agreement on this kind of decision
